This would be the shortest pattern I’ve ever worked on, it goes together in one morning 🙂
For the cauldron, you will need a minuscule amount of black yarn (8ply/double knit), some wadding and off cuts of green yarn.
Make a magic knot to start. There is a tutorial for magic knots at All Free Crafts.
rw1) 6sc in magic knot
rw2) 2dc in each sc around (12dc) (put a stitch marker in first dc)
rw3) *dc in first dc, 2dc in next dc* repeat *to* around (18dc)
rw4) *dc in next two dc, 2dc in next dc* repeat *to* around (24dc)
rw5) *dc in next three dc, 2dc in next dc* repeat *to* around (30dc)
rw6-7) dc in each around (30dc)
rw8) *dc in next three dc, 2dc together* repeat *to* around (24dc)
rw9) *dc in next two dc, 2dc together* repeat *to* around (18dc)
rw10) dc in each around (18dc)
rw11) *dc in next two dc, 2dc in next dc* repeat *to* around (24dc)
rw12) sl st in each dc around, fasten off.
Now for the filling!
Stuff the cauldron with the wadding, about half way up. Fill the rest of the cauldron with the off cuts of green yarn, to make it look like a bubbling potion inside. I let a few strands hang out, to look like the potion was bubbling over!
This would make a great addition to a Halloween display!
